Alcohol Plays a Role in How Many Car Accidents Per Year?

For every confirmed drunk driving accident, there are many more alcohol impaired drivers who do not have the legal blood alcohol content level of 0.08% to be considered drunk. Statistics are hard to come by for alcohol related car accidents that do not result in drunk driving arrests, but some research indicates that lower blood alcohol content levels can contribute to serious traffic accidents.

And the information that we do have about drunk driving is chilling.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there are approximately 10,585 people killed and 525,600 people injured every year in drunk driving accidents. Put a different way – 29 people die and 1,440 people are injured every day, on average.
